Online Fakers Alert

Well, to a few of your experiened online people - this’ll seem like common practice. To a vast majority of you this’ll seem like the usual thing you see on the news of a 70 yr old man falling in love with a 20yr old etc. etc. It’s all about lies and deceipt and darnright ignorance on everyones behalf - but what can you do? It’s the internet right?

Well, actually theres lots you can do to tell if someone is lying to you. I myself have been online for a long time, and much like there is something in britain called the “policemans nose” there is something called the “geeks nose” - we just know when something isn’t quite right. It could be their typing, their level of intellect, their mannerism’s, their domain name, email.. there are so many clues guys.

As people are getting smarter and more experienced with computers, tools and online streetsmartedness its everyones job to be more vigilant now.

I’m on a popular webmasters forum that I will not name - there is an “edrama” there every few days/weeks/month’s because of some moron pretending to be someone who he isn’t. That is, someone pretending to be working for a top500 website in the world (an adult entertainment site might I add). People should know firstly, this is commonplace and it’s likely a few of you have already been cleaned out by people like this. A lot of the webmasters refer to these people as “cheaters”. You can spot a cheat, there’s lots of signs, trust me. The cheaters should know that the adult entertainment industry is somewhat mafia run and fucking with these sort of people is not a smart idea.

It’s interesting to see that it still continues and a lot of sad, moronic people mess up their chances of becoming a decent webmaster with some decent contacts by simply, lying out of their bum bum! It’s a shame as these people might actually be a useful addition to the webmaster workforce, however in retrospect, i’m glad these guys get caught and punished in the way that they do - I’d rather not be in business with cheaters or affiliated with, in any way. So in some respects I/we should stop moaning as the signs are there, and we can be easily protected from these sorts of peoples.

We all need to be more vigilant in our online activities, even professionals. Cheating seems to be at an all time high - and as more and more people join the internet, the average IQ online is sure to drop.

If your a cheater and are reading this, why not consider doing yourself a favour and choosing something a bit more long term, a lot less stressful and if none of the above - get yourself some morals you fucking unscrupilous bastard!
haha.

Peace,
A

Project Ether Ghost Announced

Well, I’ve decided to start a new research project as part of an endorsement for game-zero LTD. I’ve decided to lease a camera with IR (video and regular camera) and goto my nearest haunted house - it’ll be part of my ongoing and continued theories of pioneers such as nikola tesla about the “ether” - some call it the fabric of space, others call it an invisible inter-dimensional link, some call it the afterlife - suffice to say nobody knows what the fark it is! *grin*

Well, it’ll be interesting I hope to make some more announcements and get some pictures and maybe even a Video up soon!

woot. I love this sort of stuff

Eternal Bash History - super duper useful

I come accross this nice little article! Me and Simon have wondered how to do this for a while.. well, now we know how! wohoo!

Many times I’ve found myself using Ctrl-R in Bash to get a old command four times the terminal width, just to find out that too many days have passed and it’s no longer in the .bash_history file. Here are two lines that will keep track of every command line you type at the bash prompt and use no external processes at all, just plain bash.

My first approach to this problem was increasing the maximum number of lines in the history to a very large quantity. But no matter how large it was, there was always a moment when I needed a long command I typed many months ago and it had already left the history. The current solution came to my mind when I learned about the PROMPT_COMMAND variable, a command that bash executes before showing each prompt. Here are the two lines:

export HISTTIMEFORMAT=”%s ”
PROMPT_COMMAND=”${PROMPT_COMMAND:+$PROMPT_COMMAND ; }”‘echo $$ $USER \
“$(history 1)” >> ~/.bash_eternal_history’

One goal I set to myself was to achieve it without using any external process, so bash wouldn’t have to fork a new process after every ENTER pressed at its prompt. The first line sets the format of history lines to include the date as a Unix timestamp, so you can now when you typed every command. The second line, which is the core of the solution, first ensures that, if a previous PROMPT_COMMAND was set, it gets executed before our stuff and then appends a line of the format:

PID USER INDEX TIMESTAMP COMMAND

to a file called .bash_eternal_history in the current user home.

Adding the username, which at first seemed unnecesary, became useful later to distiguish between “sudo -s” sessions and normal sessions which retain the same value for “~/”, and so append lines to the same .bash_eternal_history file.

I hope some of you find these two lines as useful as I do. :-)

using ssh on multiple servers at one time

The possibilities for this app are endless. Yum.

Lots of us have many server to manage and we perform the same tasks on each of the machine every day, if you want to save time the package cssh will make you happy!

Simply install the clusterssh package:

host:/# apt-get install clusterssh

Now if you want to perform the same command on the three servers one, two, & three simply run:

host:/# cssh one two three

This will open three console, one for each server, over an ssh connection, and one little console to type your command.

Enjoy !

Turn a MiniMag flashlight into a burning laser pointer!! A link with detailed instructions on my website! Disclaimer: CAUTION! As you know…lasers can be dangerous. Never point them at any living object! This is not a toy, and this should not be used like a conventional laser pointer. In other words, don’t use it in presentations, or to play with pets, or allow children to use it. It should only be operated by responsible persons who understand and respect the potential laser safety hazards.

Damn Insecure Windows Machines! HowTo: Scanning your own active Windows ports.

So, your a sysadmin who uses windows for a business? Shame on you.  Your a desktop user who uses windowz and wants to check if anyone is snooping on them. Normally I’d suggest using something like netstat -a netstat -no or even netstat -ano however this neat little tool, fport does all tha hard work for you, the main difference being it looks up the PIDs that netstat gives and finds the name of the executable for that very PID,  as well as the ports and the IP’ & protocol connected. It’s pretty handy if you have to use winz in one way of another. Here is a copy of the example at http://www.foundstone.com/us/resources/proddesc/fport.htm

and here is the direct downloadurl off foundstone’s website.

Identify unknown open ports and their associated applications

fport supports Windows NT4, Windows 2000 and Windows XP

fport reports all open TCP/IP and UDP ports and maps them to the owning application. This is the same information you would see using the ‘netstat -an’ command, but it also maps those ports to running processes with the PID, process name and path. Fport can be used to quickly identify unknown open ports and their associated applications.

Usage:
C:\>fport

The program contains five (5) switches. The switches may be utilized using either a ‘/’
or a ‘-’ preceding the switch. The switches are;

Usage:
