Saving Google and Youtube Video’s to Disk!

A friend of mine maintains a site called www.lifeofexile.com/wget_curl/ and posted a VERY interesting article in 2006 that I seem to have missed. Whether this method still works I do not know, but usually his stuff always works and continues to so I thought I’d add this little gem for all to see and you can all let me know how you get on with it! *evil laugh*..

It’s pretty easy shellscript - all you need is a linux box and you should be away. ;-)

“As we all know, Google recently purchased Youtube . Unfortunately, as a result of that decision, Google has now become the target of a wide range of lawsuits forcing YouTube to remove a lot of the Copyrighted content which has been stored on the YouTube servers. What’s unfortunate is that the content is not limited in scope to videos which were uploaded by people for the sake of creativity (i.e. videos with copyrighted songs in them) or to content such as Cartoons which have been long out of print.

To make a long story short, I was browsing Metafilter and in one of the threads I came along a wget that was posted by a member there. I hope they don’t mind me sharing it here, for all to benefit. The following will allow you to save your favorite videos from Youtube and play them back later:

“wget -O - ‘http://youtube.com/get_video.php?’`wget -qO - ‘http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phO3Nubtgds’ | grep player2.swf | cut -d? -f2 | cut -d\” -f1` > whatever.flv

or slightly easier to use in script form:

#!/bin/bash
baseurl=’http://youtube.com/get_video.php?’
pageurl=$1
wget -O - $baseurl`wget -qO - $pageurl | grep player2.swf | cut -d? -f2 | cut -d\” -f1`

Make sure you redirect stdout to a file.”

Proxy Lists for your white hacking pleasure

I decided to create a tiny little script to help create a directory structure (and relevant -dump output) for proxy lists online. I thought I’d at LEAST share the 306 or so proxies that I categorized with my scripts. I will publish the code here soon so you can create your own proxylist compiler software. It’s dead simple. Categorizing into the type’s of proxies and locations is fun! and you can do it yourself.

Yet Another New Look For Azio.org

Well chaps, as you all know I haven’t been posting on azio.org for a while, business has been busy and I’ve been killing myself at the datacentre on and off and with customer support. However, recently azio.org has had thousands of hits from hackers and punters alike and it’s time for a change of look!

A big thanks to the template designers at freecsstemplates.org - wow you guys rock. Finally a template that is compatible with my “row spam” ;-))

More articles on security and MUCH MORE coming soon!

See you on the other side chaps,

EA couldn’t hit a deadline if it jumped up and kicked them in the balls

Well… Where to begin? EA, I need not say any more! The new sequel to the popular C&C RTS game C&C 3 Tiberium Wars came out on the 28th of March 2007, and it was “decided by EA” to release the world builder in “early April”. Well, its the 8th April and we are all getting bored to piss waiting for the world builder and some custom maps. Still no World builder.

C&C 3 World Builder Suxxage!

Worldbuilder for Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars is the toolset that the game’s designers used to create all of the single-player missions and multiplayer maps, and we’re making it available to our player community. Worldbuilder will be available right here for direct download in early April after the game is launched.

Given that they use ASPX Server Extensions on their website, it’s not surprising they are lame. What is a surprise to me is, that they were able to complete the game without more than 2 or 3 delays. That’s shocking. Well done EA. To make matters more painful EA claim this is to “avoid having to update it later”. Well, the game has already been updated multiple times’ I can’t see why anyone could be upset by it including a revision of the world builder pack, even if it’s beta?? No that wouldn’t cause a problem would it. You have to ask why they didn’t as their “excuse” encompasses the reason that it was clearly done as a result of not wanting to issue the world builder with the RTM (retail).

SIGH. But I do love this game.

:)

When EA Finally decide to “get their freak on” you’ll find the world builder in “early april” here
